Modern urology – quality of life medicine. Farkhod Tulenbaev’s career path
Most people put off visiting a urologist until the last minute. Some attribute alarming symptoms to age or fatigue, others experience psychological discomfort, and still others are convinced the problem will resolve itself. Therefore, diseases that are successfully treated in the early stages are often detected in advanced stages. Urologist and andrologist Farkhod Tulenbaev is convinced that modern urology is, above all, about prevention, timely diagnosis, and maintaining the patient’s quality of life for years to come.
Over the years of his medical practice, Farkhod Tulenbaev has developed an approach based on three principles: clinical precision, individualized attention to each patient, and adherence to evidence-based medicine. His professional history is a journey of constant development, beginning with general surgery and leading to one of the most technologically advanced and dynamically developing medical specialties.
Farkhod Tulenbaev took his first steps in the profession after graduating from the Faculty of Medicine at Osh State University. Even then, he realized that medicine requires constant practice. His internship served as a time for developing his professional skills, and his work as a surgeon at a city hospital finally convinced the young doctor that medicine is a calling that demands complete dedication.
Over time, the doctor’s interests focused on urology. Why urology? As Farkhod himself explains, it was the perfect balance for him. Here, he can utilize his surgical experience, utilize cutting-edge diagnostic technologies, and, most importantly, be by his patient’s side throughout their entire recovery journey. He sees the results of his work every day, but it’s especially rewarding when treatment dramatically changes a person’s life. This is especially true in urology and andrology. By helping a man restore his health and reproductive function, you often help a family realize their dream of having a child. Moments like these can’t be measured by statistics. Each story like this is a reminder of why he chose medicine and continues to dedicate his life to it.
Recognizing how rapidly this field of medicine is developing, Farkhod Tulenbaev completed additional training in andrology and sexology. Today, issues of male reproductive health require a comprehensive approach, as the causes of disorders often lie at the intersection of several medical disciplines—urology, endocrinology, reproductive medicine, and even psychology.
Over the years, Farkhod Tulenbaev worked in various medical centers in Kyrgyzstan: City Hospital No. 1, Dr. Mansurova’s Clinic, the Avangard and Khasiyat medical centers, and also served on the military medical commission of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. His work in public and private medical institutions allowed him to gain diverse clinical experience, become familiar with various models of medical care organization, and learn how to effectively work with patients of various age groups.
Over the years of his practice, he diagnosed and treated benign prostatic hyperplasia, urolithiasis, inflammatory diseases of the genitourinary system, urinary disorders, erectile dysfunction, male infertility, and hormonal imbalances. He performed a wide range of urological procedures, including surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia, surgical treatment of urolithiasis, cystoscopy, nephrostomy, and varicocele and hydrocele repair.
“In my work, I always adhere to the principle that successful treatment requires a thorough understanding of the cause of the disease. If a comprehensive examination is scheduled promptly, we can do everything possible to prevent the problem from recurring,” says the doctor.
Comprehensive diagnostics occupy a special place in his practice. According to the specialist, a modern urologist must be proficient in ultrasound diagnostics, understand the mechanisms of hormonal imbalances, and assess the impact of chronic diseases, lifestyle, and metabolic processes on the genitourinary system.
Male reproductive medicine has become a distinct area of his professional practice. According to the World Health Organization and international professional urological associations, male reproductive health issues remain one of the most pressing medical and social challenges. Up to 15% of couples worldwide experience infertility, with male factors being identified in approximately half of these cases. Varicocele is diagnosed in one in six men and in nearly 40% of patients with primary infertility. More than 150 million men suffer from erectile dysfunction, while prostate disease and urinary disorders affect almost every other man with age. These data highlight the importance of timely diagnosis and qualified urological care in addressing society’s demographic challenges.
The doctor also pays attention to preventative measures. Despite advances in medicine, many patients continue to seek medical attention only when a disease has significantly reduced their quality of life. “People are used to seeing a doctor when the pain becomes unbearable. But modern medicine is advancing toward early detection of diseases. In many cases, timely examination allows us to avoid complex surgical treatment and maintain our health for many years to come.”
This principle applies not only to men. Urology deals with the diagnosis and treatment of urinary tract diseases in both men and women. Urinary tract infections, kidney stones, urinary disorders, and certain types of chronic pelvic pain—all these conditions require the involvement of a urologist and often require a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach.
A true doctor leaves a mark not only on their patients’ medical records but also on their lives. Farkhod Tulenbaev sees this as the core meaning of his profession: helping people maintain their health, restore their confidence in the future, and pave the way for a new life.
